Starting from a Template
3 min read
What Is a Template?
A template is a pre-configured starting point: the framework, runtime version, default port, and (optionally) a database are already chosen for you. Pick one and it becomes a service in a new tenant.
Finding a Template
Open Templates in the sidebar. From there you can:
- Browse the Popular picks shown at the top
- Filter by language: Node.js, Python, Go, Ruby, Java, PHP, Rust, .NET, and Elixir
- Search by name, framework, language, or database (e.g., "fastapi" or "postgres")
Each card shows the runtime and version, the port the app listens on, and the database it comes with. Templates marked one click deploy a pre-built image, so there's no build step.
Using a Template
- Click a template card (or Use template →)
- The tenant creation wizard opens with the template's settings filled in
- Give the tenant a name, then review the service, database, and environment variables. You can change anything the template set
- Deploy
From there it works like any other tenant: you can add services, connect a custom domain, and redeploy.
Can't Find What You Need?
Templates are a shortcut, not a requirement. You can always deploy your own GitHub repository or any container image. See Your First Deployment.
